What Was I Scared Of?

Full confession, I am a big chicken - always have been and probably always will be. I come from a family of chickens too, so I had no hope. However, every fall I feel compelled to scare myself. Then I spend the rest of the year trying to erase all of that scary stuff from my brain.

This year I’m accomplishing that by listening to a podcast called Crime Junkie. I’m obsessed, I turn it on every time I’m in my car. I like it because the episodes are fairly short (30-45 min) and just give a recap of true crime stories, missing persons, famous murder cases, etc. The girls that do it might not be professionals, but they make up for that in personality. Plus Ashley reminds me so much of one of my best friends that I feel like Gina is giving me a recap of Lizzie Borden.

I like the fact that being a podcast, I don’t have to see any terrible images, I just get the details of the story and they typically do not go too far into the gory details or sensationalize anything, just the facts. The Crime Junkie tagline is “Be rude, be weird, stay safe.” Done and done girls.

I don’t care for “horror” movies, I prefer thrillers, but some of my favorite spooky films are The Shining, The Others, The Sixth Sense, Poltergeist, Carrie… and I’m sorry to say I love Scream. I watch it every year around Halloween. Other than What Was I Scared Of?, I can honestly say I have never read anything scary! I do love that story though, so brilliant like everything by Dr. Seuss.

I need your recommendations. If you like scary books or have a favorite, send it my way. There’s still more time to get properly scared before Halloween is over this year! Have a safe and spooky Halloween!
